Feather Crochet Hair
Feather crochet hair is 100% human hair that comes pre-separated into feather-light pieces on an invisible string, so it loops onto your cornrows and lays flat for a knotless, natural-looking finish. Seven textures, 16" or 20", ready to install.
Why feather crochet hair?
Traditional crochet hair is thick, pre-looped hanks that sit on top of your braids. Feather crochet is the opposite: small, pre-separated pieces of real human hair on a thin, invisible string. Each piece is looped under your cornrow and lays flat, so there's no bulky knot at the root and the finish reads as hair growing from your scalp. It's the look people call "invisible knots," with a lighter, more breathable install than a full sew-in.
100% human hair
Wash it, curl it, straighten it, or have it colored. It moves and styles like your own hair.
Knotless, invisible string
The string lays flat against the braid for a smooth root with no bumps or bulk.
Pre-separated pieces
No splitting hanks before you start. Every piece is ready to go, which speeds up the install.
Reusable
Take it down carefully, wash and condition it, and it's ready for your next install.
Choose your texture
For the most natural blend, pick the texture closest to your own hair when it's styled the way you usually wear it. Every texture comes in Natural Black.
| Texture | The look | Blends best with |
|---|---|---|
| Kinky Straight | Straight with a coarse, blown-out finish | Natural 4A–4C hair that's blown out or pressed |
| Kinky Curly | Tight, defined coils with big volume | Natural 4A–4C coils and wash-and-gos |
| Burmese Curly | Soft, fluffy, bouncy curls | 3B–4A curls |
| Deep Wave | Bold, defined waves with lots of fullness | 3A–3C curls, or anyone who wants a big curly look |
| Water Wave | Loose, wet-look ripples with movement | 2C–3B waves and curls |
| Ocean Wave | Beachy waves, softer than Deep Wave and fuller than Body Wave | 2B–3A waves |
| Body Wave | Soft S-waves with smooth, polished body | Relaxed, silk-pressed or wavy hair |

Choose your length and how much hair
Every texture comes in 16" (falls around the shoulders) and 20" (past the shoulders to mid-back, depending on texture and height). Curly and wavy textures look shorter than their stretched length, so size up if you want more hang.
| Option | Pieces | Weight | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| One Bundle | 50 pieces | 60g | Touch-ups or a partial install |
| One Set | 100 pieces | 120g | A light, natural-density look |
| Two Sets | 200 pieces | 240g | A full head, natural fullness |
| Three Sets | 300 pieces | 360g | A full head with extra volume |
Our recommendation: 2 to 3 sets (200 to 300 pieces) for a full, natural-looking install. Go with 3 sets for 20" or if you love big volume.
How it's installed
-
1
Braid the base
Start with clean, detangled hair braided into small, neat cornrows. Keep the hairline and nape braids gentle, not tight.
-
2
Loop each piece
Use a crochet needle to pull each feather piece under the cornrow and secure it so the string lays flat.
-
3
Work in rows
Place pieces row by row, closer together at the part and hairline, where the finish shows the most.
-
4
Blend and style
Leave out a little of your own hair at the part if you like, then shape, trim and define the curls.
Care tips
Wash gently
Use a sulfate-free shampoo, keep the pieces separated, and don't scrub or pile the hair on top of your head.
Hydrate
A lightweight leave-in keeps waves and curls soft. Refresh curly textures with water and a curl definer.
Detangle damp
Use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb, starting at the ends and working up.
Protect at night
Sleep in a satin bonnet or scarf, and let the hair air dry to keep its pattern.
Feather crochet hair FAQ
What is feather crochet hair?
It's human hair extensions made into small, pre-separated pieces on a thin, invisible string. The pieces are looped onto cornrows with a crochet needle and lay flat, which gives you a knotless root that looks like your hair is growing from your scalp.
How is it different from regular crochet hair?
Regular crochet hair comes in thick, pre-looped hanks that are knotted on top of the braid, which can leave bumps at the root. Feather crochet uses much smaller pieces on an invisible string that lay flat, so the finish is lighter, flatter, and far more natural, especially at the part and hairline.
Is GoNaked feather crochet hair real human hair?
Yes. Every texture in this collection is 100% human hair, not synthetic, so you can wash, heat style and color it like your own hair.
How many pieces do I need for a full head?
We recommend 2 to 3 sets (200 to 300 pieces) for a full, natural-looking install. One set is 100 pieces (120g). Choose 3 sets for extra volume or for 20" hair.
Should I get 16" or 20"?
16" falls around the shoulders and is the easiest everyday length. 20" falls past the shoulders for more length and drama. Curly and wavy textures shrink up a bit, so pick 20" if you want curls that clearly hang past your shoulders.
Which texture matches my natural hair?
Match the hair to how you usually wear your own. Kinky Straight blends with blown-out or pressed natural hair, Kinky Curly with 4A–4C coils, Burmese Curly with 3B–4A curls, and Body, Ocean and Water Wave with wavy, relaxed or silk-pressed hair. Deep Wave works for anyone who wants a big, defined curl. Still torn? Take the Hair Match quiz.
How long does a feather crochet install last?
Most installs last about 4 to 8 weeks, depending on your braid base and how you care for it. We recommend taking it down by the 8-week mark to protect your own hair and edges.
Can I reuse the hair?
Yes. Because it's human hair, you can remove it carefully, wash and condition it, let it air dry, and reinstall it. Store the pieces separated so they don't tangle.
Can I straighten, curl or color it?
Yes. Use a heat protectant and moderate heat to keep the pattern healthy. For color, go to a professional colorist. Going darker is easy; lifting to a lighter shade should be done carefully to avoid damage.
Can I install it myself?
If you're comfortable cornrowing and using a crochet needle, yes. Many customers book a braider or stylist for the cleanest part and hairline. Either way, the pre-separated pieces save time because nothing needs to be split before you start.
When will my order ship?
Orders placed before 12 PM ET usually ship the same day. Orders after the cutoff ship the next day. See our shipping policy for delivery options.
